Crazy about silly stuff
Oh my what a serious picture 😅 but I do like it. So my name is Pieter and I am the founder of Chessnologic.com. I have created this website due to my frustration about the game we know as Chess. I have played my share of chess in the past but hadn’t play since my youth. I stopped playing as I simply lacked the progress and knowledge to really improve my game. And that is a pity because I love chess. Not just for the game but also for the craftmanship that goes into a good chess board and the pieces. So fast forward a couple years… and another couple of years… okay okay fast forward 25 year… I have started falling in love with woodworking and decided to create my own chess game. While doing that I also purchased a Tandy 1850 chess computer. A lovely little thing and from there I wanted to start with the first level and work my way through the levels to gain experience and knowledge in the game of chess.
After 3 weeks I still was not able to beat level 1 from a chess computer from the year 1988! That was not funny… at all… So I decided to make a study out of chess and the results, well yo are looking at it. Chessnologic was born and of course as a Gen X guys I was raise with a Commandore 64 and an CGA IBM Personal Computer so please forgive me my love for neon blue and pink.
So what is it I want to achieve with Chessnologic.com?
There are a couple of things I want to realise with this website. This has nog just been my own personal study experiment. In the meantime this has become much much more.
Increase the popularity of chess by making it fun and accessable to play!
Through technology I want to make chess a pleasent experience for everyone. Fun to learn and fun to play.
How do I want to achieve this?
To be fair that is not too complicated. In my search for knowledge I came across a lot of info but unfortunately it was very fragmented. There wasn’t a single website that gave me all the knowledge I was looking for. I am sure Chessnologic will not be able to find and compile all knowledge but we can give it a try nevertheless. Next to that playing chess can be frustrating, long and tedious. I want to bring the fun back into the game and give players knowledge, tools and options to make the game fun again by offering an online environment to play the game and variant, enjoy quick and elaborate games with different game options and a fun environment. And last but not least, I want Chessnologic to be different. There are plenty of website as mentioned already and chess has a bit of a stiff reputation. Let’s change that and feel free to join me in making chess great again!
All this will be a multi year endeavour I am sure but I am giving this my best nevertheless. Why? Because I love everything about chess.
